Why GardenPlum.com Buys Local & Its Not What You’d Think
I received two packages in the mail today, wow did they hit my joy button! Over the years I have upheld a strict policy to purchase directly from artists in a desire to support them. Little, if nothing comes from China or some other place with a large carbon footprint. But really – the reason why I buy directly from an artist – is because its FUN AND RIGHT!!! It intuitively makes sense!

Rita Lloyd sent me her new book “Unconditional Self Love” which I am reviewing. It is a sequel to her DVD and book on Self Love. LQQk at her playful butterfly stickers! Thanks Rita! (Rita has created her art in part to assist battered women.)

This one made me roar, my retired Celtic Garden Stickmaker is apparently up to something and proud of it!
These are the things that make the difference for me!
Thank you God!

How Can I NOT Take What She Did Personally? It Hurt So Much!
Here’s an Abraham Hicks quote I received this morning:
“What you want is freedom. That freedom you are seeking is freedom from resistance. You will never find the freedom that you seek by controlling the behavior of others.
You’ll only find it when the behavior of others becomes a non-issue. Because you are able to focus your mind in ways that allow your connection, and give you that feeling of well being.
We’re not giving you this guidance so that you can tune up your vibration to get your relatives to do what you want them to do and get what you want.
We’re trying to get you to tune up your vibration so that you can understand that the serenity you seek on the mountain is not about having it in the family, it’s about your vibrational alignment.
And there are hundreds of thousands of spots on this planet that would give you that feeling that you can go to any day and the Universe will orchestrate so you can go there when others are not there.
In other words, you are zigging and zagging in this world. You’ll get what you want whether you own the property or not, you see.
But the feeling of ownership, the feeling of guarding or protecting, the
feeling of making others come into agreement before I can get what I want, that will render you powerless every single time because you will never get them to agree.”

The Wisdom of Whales

Self-acceptance is inherent in all animals and can be best understood by observing nature. At Puerto Madryn in Argentina, for example, dozens of right whales come to breed in the calm waters surrounding the Valdes Peninsula. It is amazing to get close to such enormous reatures. They are the biggest animals in the world and surely among the most powerful, yet all they do is radiate love. It’s incredible. It’s all you can feel. They are pure peace, pure love, and yet they are so big. They look at you lazily through the shimmering water as if you’re some rare breed of insect, and then down they go again.
The whales come with their babies, and those babies drink two thousand liters of milk a day. So poor Mom spends most of her time nursing. All the baby wants to do is feed – he’d be happy to drink ten thousand liters of milk a day. When she gets tired of feeding him, she rolls over onto her back so he can’t reach her nipples. The baby starts slapping Mom with his tail in an attempt to make her roll over. It’s a relatively powerful thing to have a baby whale slapping you with its tail, but Mom just lies there in perfect peace. She lets him have his little temper tantrum and continues to rest, even when he’s getting annoyed. She doesn’t judge herself; she doesn’t think, I shouldn’t get tired so easily. I’m not giving enough to my children, poor things. Animals never judge themselves. To them everything is perfect.
When the mother has rested, she teaches the baby how to jump out of the water. When Mom jumps, it’s magnificent. It’s poetry in motion. When the baby tries to copy, he’s a disaster! He does big belly flops and isn’t impressive at all. But his mother doesn’t say,”Oh my God, you’re not doing it properly! You’re embarrassing me in front of the other whales! I mustn’t be a very good teacher.” No. She just keeps leaping, and he keeps practicing, until they are in perfect union, perfect synchrony.
Nature doesn’t judge. It’s pure love, pure being, perfectly in the moment because it’s not thinking all the time. Such is the nature of enlightenment.

A Great Abraham Hicks Quote on Relationships

“But we would like you to understand that moving from relationship to relationship to relationship is not the answer and that in fact the true relationship you seek is the relationship with Source if you will tend to that relationship, if you will care about how you feel, if you will care about seeing this relationship through the eyes of Source, every relationship could be the long term committed relationship you are talking to and the expansive, growth relationship you’re talking about.
It’s easy if you don’t like something to just throw it away and start over, but you take yourself with you. And whatever went wrong in your last relationship, we promise you will go wrong in this relationship unless you’ve done something about changing the vibration. And by changing the vibration, we don’t mean just go to another person! We mean do something about changing the vibration, and when you change the vibration you’ll evoke from this relationship something different just as you would evoke from a new relationship. So whether you stay or go is not the issue. The issue is – am I tending to the relationship between ME and me first? And once I do that, I will find joy wherever I stand.
You can get so good at your alignment that you could have a wonderful relationship with ANYBODY. With anybody! But you have of course, through your physical experience, given birth to all kinds of preferences and those preferences should be met. You should be able to live with the kind of person that you want to! They should look the way you want them to look, they should behave the way you want them to behave. We don’t want you to say: “You can behave in any way you want to behave and I’ll just joyously bip along and be your doormat and do whatever it is that you want me to do!” That’s not what we’re saying at all!
The Art of Allowing doesn’t mean let the other get away with things that bother you. The Art of Allowing means tuning myself to the point that I’m not bothered and then they CAN’T do things that bother you! Nobody can consistently give you something you do not want unless it is active in your vibration. And if it is active in your vibration you want to blame the other one because (you BELIEVE -sc) it wasn’t active in your vibration before you observed their behaviour. But we want you to take control of your own experience by saying “I’m in charge of the way I feel because I’m in charge of where I give my attention.” I can see through the eyes of Source or not. It’s that simple.”

We Are One! Its Official.

Green Greetings! I haven’t blogged in a while as the harvest season is upon us and my Farmers’ Market is overflowing with food and a sense of community! Which brings me to the point of my blog post. I can feel the Oneness. In between the grumble and complaint, after the body ache or the spilled milk, the Oneness is really becoming apparent these past few months.
My final confirmation beautifully and blatantly pulled up in my driveway last week (pic above). What a confirmation! We Are One! (and I live in Weare, We-are).
This is the way to Peace, to see yourself in others. To know that what one is experiencing, you may have already experienced, may experience in the future, or could be experiencing simultaneously. Does it seem easier to step into someone else’s shoes these days? To recognize others’ perspectives? Is it more often that you have compassion and understanding than not? Do you judge less? Its not hard to feel the Oneness, its really quite simple. I continue to hold that prayer in my heart.
Thunderstorms: Interpretations from Native America

Today Thunderstorms are forecasted to move across our state here in New Hampshire. To my pleasant surprise, this morning I pulled the Power Place card from Jamie Sam’s Sacred Path Cards.
Here is what the card talked about:
The Thunder-beings re-energize our Earth mother, since she is magnetic in nature, through the gift of lightning. The Fire Sticks, or lightning, find their way to the areas that have been drained of energy through overuse or human consumption. That is to say our bodies are fed from the electromagnetic energy of our Mother’s surface. That same energy can be renewed through Fire Sticks touching her body.
Jamie often speaks about our Earth Mother, being connected to her, walking in beauty, and honoring Earth. So today I am celebrating the electromagnetic rejuvenation that I will witness with glee! Wishing you all rejuvenating fire sticks, water, and a replenishing of resources in your area. Give your blessings to the earth and she will answer you.
Witnessing the Breaking of Spirit

I was out with my family eating at Friendly’s restaurant last weekend. Sitting next to us were a mother and daughter, the mother was in her forties and the daughter was probably around 6 years old. The little girl had bright blue eyes and she was very happy and they were laughing and conversing.
The mother even got her daughter a hot fudge sundae, I had made eye contact with the little girl several times and she was full of delight!
Towards the end of the meal, the daughter had gotten bored (and probably had a huge sugar high) and was using her spoon to try and cut a crayon in half. The mother said “Don’t cut the crayon in half.” The daughter continued playing with her crayon and spoon, humming, and didn’t appear to have heard her mother.
The mother reached over and smacked the daughter’s hand hard and said “I told you not to cut the crayon.”
The daughter flinched from the heavy handed smack, (I admit I jumped a little) and spilled her hot fudge sundae and immediately started crying and screaming “It’s all your fault! Its YOUR fault!”
The mother calmly stated, “No, its both our faults. I told you not to cut the crayon.” The daughter continued crying and whining and really just didn’t understand what just happened.
This mother just removed I would say ALL, if not almost ALL trust between herself and her child. Do you agree?
My question is… why didn’t the mother explain why the daughter should not cut the crayon? So many assumptions were made on the Mother’s part. (One of the main chapters in the Four Agreements book is “Don’t Make Assumptions”).
The daughter just learned a very important lesson that will be deeply rooted in her psyche and it goes like this:
“People who love me WILL suddenly lash out and hit me for no reason”…and when it happens in her adult life it will feel vaguely familiar and she will accept it.
I think its imperative that everyone read The Four Agreements, it speaks about this kind of Conditioning illustrated in the story. This isn’t abuse in the current eyes of the law… I call it “spiritual abuse”. Its subtle and usually the abuser is completely unaware of what they are doing, they are unconscious.
This is not a new concept for most of us, its just a really strong and deep issue that could help us all raise a better generation. Its the subtleties in life that are so important to individual peace.

The Subtleties of Living The Four Agreements

I was just making a salad for lunch. Fresh chives from the garden! And green leaf lettuce. I picked up a handful of green leaf lettuce and rather than cutting the lettuce with scissors as I had done with the long, straight chives – I put down the scissors and began to pull the lettuce apart with my hands.
I wondered why I just did what I did? It was harder to rip the lettuce apart with my hands, and it takes longer. It would be much easier with the scissors!
Thats when it hit me.
Somewhere along the line, someone had told me that lettuce must be torn apart and never cut. I made an agreement with this person (I can’t remember who it was) and for the rest of my life – have been pulling lettuce apart with my hands instead of easily cutting it with scissors.
This is how The Four Agreements book works over time. You suddenly realize how all of these side turns, extra steps, and “agreements” you have made with other people play a role in your life.
So today, I will enjoy my scissor cut lettuce and even moreso, will enjoy having recognized and removed another unnecessary agreement in my life that did not come from my authentic self.
This is a really simple example- but consider other agreements you may have accepted from parents or other good meaning people – try these on and see how they affect your life on a daily basis:
1. Don’t Talk to Strangers (as an adult ?! ?! ?!).
2. Germs live on toilet seats.
3. Ladies don’t sit like that.
4. Dirt is dirty.
5. We can’t afford that.
Do you get a reaction from these statements? How long have you been abiding by these statements and how are they affecting you? Daily? Ooh! Can’t say enough about this book, and how its’ effects over months and years continue to turn on the spiritual light bulb.
A Sense of Family Outside of your Immediate One: God, Angels…Family. Forget-Me-Not Flower Essence

Forget-Me-Not is pictured here in the making earlier this week.
It is an important essence to consider following the initial stage of grief after the death of a loved one, and can be very helpful for those who have never fully resolved their feelings of isolation and abandonment following the loss of an important family member or friend during childhood.
Forget-Me-Not can also be used by expectant parents who wish to establish a conscious link with the soul seeking to be incarnated through them.
Forget-Me-Not can be beneficial when one wishes to understand the deeper, karmic soul connection which inspires or challenges any current relationship. In all these instances, Forget Me Not guides us toward greater love for the human family, and deepens our understanding of how vast and deep it exists for us.
It is just as it says, “forget not” the helpers, guides, and spiritual beings. Forget not that every soul in your life is there for a reason. And know that souls don’t go far when they pass, that etheric existences are real. This flower essences helps establish and re-establish this knowing and ability to sense a larger human family.
Consider Herbs that Kill All Flus and Viruses… Decades ago in Siberia they air dropped crates of garlic…

Here’s an excerpt from my friend Chris Bashaw, an herbalist and RN who lives over on the seacoast of NH. Its a great response to the Swine Flu and a reminder about natural medicines:
Swine influenza A/H1N1 infection: What do we really know and what can we do?
By Christopher Bashaw, RN
As of April 29, 2009 the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that nine countries had officially reported 148 cases of swine influenza A/H1N1 infection; the United States reporting 91 laboratory confirmed human cases, with one death and Mexico reporting 26 confirmed human cases of infection including seven deaths…(for the entire rest of this portion of the article which documents the Swine flu and all of its scientific data, email me)
…what can we do to help ourselves against the current swine flu?
We can be proactive and keep our level of resistance up. To keep resistance up means consuming a healthy diet and not the SAD or Standard American Diet of processed foods, high fat, high sugar and corn syrup foods, chemical additives, genetically altered foods, and fast foods. Instead consume a diet high in organic fruits and vegetables, and free-range beef, poultry, and/or organic fish.
With this being difficult for many to adhere to the additional use of supplements can aid in keeping the immune system resilient. All vitamins should be food quality all natural – the following is based on Optimal Daily Allowance for adults:
a multiple vitamin 2-3 times a day with meals
vitamin C 1000mg four times a day with meals
a complete B-complex 2-3 times a day with meals.
Keeping resistance at an optimal level also means plenty of rest, but balancing that rest with adequate exercise. Water intake is also an important factor to consider, for with the proper intake of healthy water, the right minerals and nutrients our body can overcome almost anything; a good guideline of daily water intake should be half of your body weight in ounces…
Additionally the use of some common herbs can help build resistance within the body.
Cayenne or Capsicum which is known as a thermogenic (elevates metabolism), disinfectant (antibacterial and anti-parasitic), blood purifier (known in Traditional Chinese Medicine to equalize and dispense the stagnation and congestion of blood), and it has also been toted to kill flu and cold on contact. The Native First Americans and Native First Mexicans used Cayenne as a “cure all for fever”. Cayenne is relatively safe causing heat stimulation to the stomach and is best taken directly following a meal. And though it is contraindicated in “hot inflammatory conditions of the stomach” it is a useful remedy in treating bleeding stomach ulcers. Due to the intense heat of the herb it is best to take capsules of the preparation; one capsule 2-3 times a day as maintenance during flu season, though a small amount in ginger ale or cream soda is tolerable but not so therapeutic.
Garlic is another herb one can simultaneously add to their maintenance regime. Garlic is a known natural antibiotic and antiviral. Garlic’s active ingredient is allicin a sulfa containing compound. Heat kills allicin so cooked garlic forgoes its medicinal properties. The recommended dosing of garlic is ideally 1-2 raw cloves of garlic daily, but if the socially threatening thought of this turns you away consider cold prepared enteric coated garlic tablets containing 2,500 mcg daily of allicin for maintenance and prevention or 5,000 mcg of allicin daily for therapeutic acute dosing. Contraindications are that garlic is known to lower blood pressure, so be careful if you are already on anti-hypertensives as well as it being an anticoagulant or blood thinner (if already on an anticoagulant like Coumadin or Plavix, or pre-surgical one may first need to consult their medical provider.); garlic can also cause upset stomach, nausea and vomiting, facial flushing, insomnia, and rapid pulse and should be stopped and evaluated by a medical professional if persistent.
Decades ago, in Siberia, the government air dropped crates of raw garlic to successfully combat a flu epidemic raging in that country. The treatment was successful.
And lastly echinacea. In the 19th century, before the advent of sulfa drugs, it was echinacea that was prescribed for cold and flu. Typically taken at the first sign of a cold or flu it is a primary remedy for respiratory infections. Echinacea boosts the weakened immune system. It works by enhancing the immune systems already complex responses in fighting bacteria and viruses. Echinacea stimulates antibody production in turn stimulating the white blood cell count to fight infection. A contraindication in taking echinacea is cited for those with limited immune response and autoimmune disorders such as HIV, AIDs, Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, and TB- these individuals should first consult their physician. Echinacea is safe during pregnancy. Echinacea is typically taken at the first sign of a cold or flu for 7-14 days. It can be taken as a maintenance dose for two months at a time with a 2-4 day break in between (this break is important so as to not allow the body to become accustomed to the herb and in turn decrease the immune efficiency response). Recommended dosing of powdered extract is 300 mg three times a day; alcohol tincture of 3-4 ml three times a day…
