This post is a long thought out post, and the first of many.
With the way of the world as it is, I do not believe we can place our destiny in the hands of a government or any large group. With the cost of oil, food, and the greed that can surround it all in many circumstances (exxon, the tomato e-coli crisis, the way man alters food for the highest profit to name a few), I believe we are being called to change our ways and MOVE BACK TO MOVE FORWARD.
I visited my local farmer’s market all summer in order to stock my freezers with local food. I froze corn, purchased local beef, chicken and tomatoes. And I ate everything. Why are my freezers barren? Because the local farmers are charging $4/lb for tomatoes and $4 for a dozen eggs. We ate everything we bought as my money didn’t afford the large quantities I expected.
So how are we to manage in a world where costs are justifiably high? We have to move back in time in order to advance into the future. The answer is, for me, to get back to earth. I will begin growing my own food next year, putting my woman hours into the work and profiting from my own effort. I will start with organic seeds to make sure that nothing is modified by man. I will get fertilizer from the neighbor who has sheep, hence sheep fertilizer. And the water will come from my own well.
I will begin a series of invitations to invite like-minded people to join me on this journey. There is no question in my mind that we must become individually sustainable, and rebuild our relationships with our neighbors, to rebuild the meaning of true community.
When Sept. 11th happened, most of us went to a place of fear. We’re under attack! We need duct tape! Withdraw, recede, suclude. Those were the contagious emotions that rocked the country. As we heal from this learning, and begin to see the healthy growth come from this nationwide injury, we heal into a more sustainable world. As we move away from oil and big government, we begin to regain our own power and sense of purpose here on Earth.

Woman, you know I’m right there beside you on this topic! There are many of us who have been working toward this for many years; energetically, it is certainly the way things should be, and will be again.
Good one!
