How You Affect Others Daily

by Maria P. - Life Change Learning Inc.

Attention Defecit Disorder Generation

As the pace and fullness of modern life serve to isolate us from one another, the contact we do share becomes vastly more significant. We unconsciously absorb each other’s energy, adopting the temperament of those with whom we share close quarters, and find ourselves changed after the briefest encounters. Everything we do or say has the potential to affect not only the individuals we live, work, and play with but also those we’ve just met. Continue to full article >>

Why Would a Deer Eat Iris Leaf?

deerI was poised two mornings ago as I watched this doe munch on blackberry leaves, hostas, poison sumac leaves (she ate the branches right down!), as well as iris leaves. The latter two are known to be poisonous if taken internally.

It is said that Native Americans observed animals in nature to take in what they eat, and follow their teachings, learning about the medicine of natural animal diet. It makes me curious about the medicinal value of sumac leaf and iris leaf. Please share any information you may have about these.

The flower essence Iris, however, is not poisonous as it contains only small amounts of the flower, and it is for spiritual creativity and complete opening of this channel. It is for “Making Your Life Your Art”. Well that might make sense since it is hunting season and the Doe is in my backyard practicing the Art of Evading the Hunter. Its a very curious world we live in, I may try a nibble myself one at a time and live to tell a tale or two.

“How Could it be Harmful for Women to Eat Milk and Eggs, We are Milk and Eggs!” ~ Susun Weed

the plantingWhat a profound statement from Susun Weed! We are milk and eggs! How many times must we be told to eat natural, unmodified foods before we finally get it!

Yesterday, Dr. Christiane Northrup was on Oprah, talking about eating nourishing foods. She said the best breakfast for a menopausal woman WAS AN OMELLETE. An omellete, the feared “high cholesterol” food that the regular doctors have been telling us to stay away from. She continued that we need more protein as we get older, and that an omellete was perfect. I agree, I have an egg almost every morning, and was advised of this years ago by my herbal teacher Carolyn Kelley, M.Ed.. Women need protein in the morning to lay the day out to balance sugar, give natural energy, and evenly keel hormones and body functions.

Back when I first started my journey into natural healing, I was told by my Naturopathic Doctor, Deb Sellars, N.D., to never eat anything out of a box. I was having trouble with hypoglycemia and yeast, and it was no wonder because I was “eating out of boxes” simply because I didn’t know any better. I innocently asked “Not even my Ensure vitamin drink?”… still not understanding the importance of natural food vs. canned and boxed. Ah, its so hard to break out of years of America’s marketing, and how it has shaped our eating habits. Campbells, “soup is good food”…

We do not need our food doctored up, drizzled, and freeze dried by the industrial commercialized food industry. We have to decide who cares about our bodies. Do I care more about my own body myself, or should I trust Kraft Foods to do the caring for me?

Thank the heavens that the Wise Woman Wisdom is finally here to stay.
Lately there has been so much common sense and wisdom confirmed for us as women living in the new millenium. We need to simply follow our intuition and eat foods that come directly out of the earth, nourishing our bodies.

Super Cider Recipe for Cold & Flu Season

This wonderful herbal recipe will chase away even the nastiest of winter bothers. Make your own and stay healthy all winter!

from Blue Turtle Botanicals

Super Cider

  • 2 oz fresh horseradish root
  • 2 oz fresh ginger root
  • 2 oz fresh onion
  • 2 oz fresh garlic (usually about 2 complete heads)
  • 1 tbsp cayenne powder, or 3-4 fresh hot red chiles (habanero’s are good
too if you like it REALLY spicy)
  • 16 oz apple cider vinegar
  • 1 oz raw honey
  • Chop the roots and onion and garlic as finely as possible, either by hand, or in a food processor. Transfer all the root pieces to a large canning jar. (Don’t use plastic or metal, it might be corroded by the vinegar and ruin your batch!) Add the cayenne powder, and then pour the vinegar over the root mixture. Cover the jar with a piece of wax paper, and screw the lid shut tight.

I like to let this sit up to 6 weeks, and shake it occasionally to mix things around inside the jar. It will be ready to use any time after 2 weeks, but the longer it sets the better. After 2-6 weeks, strain the vinegar from the roots with an old, clean napkin, cheesecloth, or mesh strainer. Add the vinegar back to your jar, add the honey and mix well.

You can store this in the refrigerator all winter long for whenever you need it! Slightly tangy, slightly sweet, definitely spicy and warming, and full of flu fighting goodness!

How to Prepare a Healing St. John’s Wort Tea

Using our celestial tea strainer, or your favorite tea ball, place a generous pinch of St. John’s Wort herb into the strainer or ball. (About 1/2 T). Place the strainer into your teacup or mug.

Fill the cup with boiling water.

Important! Cover the cup with a saucer or lid for ten minutes. (This preserves the essential oils and does not let them steam into the air).

After 10 minutes, drink. Repeat as necessary, generally 3 times a day. Seek the advice of an herbalisit for your specific dosage.

The 7 Benefits of Taking St. John’s Wort as a Tea and Not as a Pill.

    1. It is MUCH CHEAPER!!!
1 ounce of bulk St. John’s Wort will make 12 to 20 cups of tea. 1 capsule of St. John’s Wort contains an indiscriminate amount of the herb, you would have to take 26 capsules to equal 1 tablespoon of the herb. The tea form is cheaper, more effective, and heals more efficiently.

    2. Its Better Absorbed by the Body.
Raw St. John’s Wort, steeped as a tea, is better absorbed by the body. In a warmed form, it is more easily accepted by the digestive system and more readily distributed as medicine throughout the body.

    3. Essential Oils are Preserved.
St. John’s Wort contains potent calming properties, and when tea is prepared correctly, the eseential oils are released into the tea. In pill form, the herb is not warmed and the body does not have enough time to break it down before it passes through the digestive system and the stomach acid destroys the oils.

    4. Hydration.
Our bodies are 98% water, and most people do not drink enough each day to support a healthy body. Taking St. John’s Wort in liquid form helps you reach your body’s daily water requirements, and also assists in cleansing the kidneys and bladder.

    5. Heat Therapy.
Heat, in and of itself, is a wonderful source of healing and relaxation. Use the tea as a calming heat therapy.

    6. Its the Way Nature Intended.
Nature has provided us with this healing plant. It should be taken into our bodies in the most natural form possible. Nature didn’t intend for us to put it in a pill form and swallow it quickly and hastily, forcing our digestive system to break down the capsule, not giving enough time to break down this complex herb before it passes to the waste system.

    7. Taking the Time We Need.
Depression is often a natural result of having a busy life and not taking the time necessary to heal. Taking the time to prepare the tea is making a loving gesture towards yourself. It sends the message to your body that it is being cared for. This is a helpful psychological benefit.

Order St. John’s Wort Today for relief from depression, alcoholism, drug addiction, unexplained anxiety, and more.

The Feminine Cannot Stand By and Wait Any Longer

Wanted to reiterate a wonderful energy alert by Karen Bishop. Karen is an intuitive and she is currently following the much talked about “Ascension Process” that we are undergoing here on Earth. I have followed Karen for some time and her reads are accurate and they explain a lot of unexplained emotions going on among women. This may help to explain to women why they are acting outside of their normal routines, why they are feeling urgings and promptings. This may also help to explain to men why their mates are suddenly seeming as if they have large imbalance of emotions, aggressive behavior, or if it seems that someone has taken their mate and replaced her with a wolf of sorts.

    She says…

“What is occurring now, in regard to our personal relationships with others, is the butting up of the feminine with the masculine. We are now in the new feminine more than ever before. This is the energy that must lead the way. This is the energy that closely and beautifully matches the energy of the new and higher realms. Masculine energy can be embodied by women, and feminine energy by men, so it is not all about a duality of the sexes here.

And how are these energies colliding for us? For many women, they absolutely can no longer tolerate, be supportive of, or in any way be submissive to men who are embodying the old masculine. This can be the same for men as well, but because of our old and now outdated socialization methods of masculine and feminine roles being embodied by specific sexes, women still tend to carry more of the feminine energy. But again, men carrying any of the feminine will be tortured and intolerant of any lower vibrating masculine energies as well, no matter where and with whom they are manifesting.

Meet My New Friends Cinnamon and Nutmeg

    Cinnamon and Nutmeg
When I was a little girl my Aunt Leota had wall to wall shelves of salt & pepper shakers. Wow! I would stare at all the shapes and colors, and pick my favorites. All shapes and sizes from all over the world at least 200 pairs.

I have followed suit and do have quite a few scattered about AND recently I have come to learn a great use for them!

    HERB SHAKERS!
My spice cabinet never allows me to find exactly the spice I am looking for when I am cooking, it is almost ALWAYS at the back of the cabinet. So I have decided to use my S&P shakers as herb shakers!

Meet Cinnamon and Nutmeg. The white headed is Cinnamon and the black headed Nutmeg. Now when I am pouring coffee, cooking french toast, or making a pastry, Cinnamon and Nutmeg are right there to chirp in without endless searching.

Cinnamon is excellent for the heart, it is warming, and moving - nourishing the heart. Its also used as a mouthwash, for yeast, athlete’s foot, and for an upset stomach.

Nutmeg - Recently I read some very interesting things about Nutmeg… it is used for gas, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, and kidney problems. Make a paste of powder with cold water and then add to boiled water. 1 tbsp of powdered nutmeg produces a floating euphoria for between 6 and 24 hours. Can cause near constant erections for men during that time. Side effects are bone and muscle aches, burning eyes, sinus drainage, and limited diarrhea. (What I always say… everything in moderation, I would never take 1 Tb of nutmeg at one time - ouch!)
